Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has informed the State Legislature that a significant number of Karnataka vacant government posts will be addressed through a structured recruitment plan. The CM stated that 2,84,881 Karnataka vacant government posts across various departments will be filled in a phased manner, following approval from the Finance Department.
Addressing the assembly, Siddaramaiah emphasized that the long-pending vacancy issue has been streamlined. Recruitment will proceed step-by-step, taking the state’s financial position into consideration, with the goal of strengthening administrative capacity.
Continuation of Sports Quota Reservation
In response to a question from MLA Ivan D’Souza, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to encouraging sportspersons through job reservations. He announced that a 3 per cent reservation will be implemented in the Forest and Police Departments, while other departments will offer 2 per cent reservation for athletes.
Siddaramaiah highlighted that the state has already appointed 13 medal-winning athletes from major international events like the Olympics and Commonwealth Games. Furthermore, 70 police constables and 14 Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) have been recruited directly through the sports quota.
Reiterating the government’s focus on promoting sports, the CM stated that greater encouragement for the popular grassroots sport of Kabaddi would be examined. These announcements underscore a dual focus: addressing critical staff shortages in the administration while providing institutional career support and opportunities for the state’s sporting talent.
