An IIT Hyderabad student ₹2.5 crore package has set a new benchmark, becoming the highest annual offer in the institute’s placement history. The IIT Hyderabad student ₹2.5 crore package was secured by final-year Computer Science student Edward Nathan Varghese from global trading firm Optiver based in the Netherlands.
The offer came as a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) after Varghese successfully completed a summer internship with the company. He is scheduled to join Optiver’s Netherlands office as a software engineer in July 2026. Varghese, who was born in Hyderabad and completed his schooling in Bengaluru, entered IIT-H through the competitive JEE and was known on campus for his programming skills and leadership roles.
This landmark IIT Hyderabad student ₹2.5 crore package demonstrates the strong global demand for elite technical talent from Indian institutes and highlights IIT Hyderabad’s growing placement stature. The achievement comes amid broader placement challenges, reinforcing the value of specialized skills and international internship opportunities for India’s engineering graduates.
