Govt Tells Quick-Commerce Firms to Drop 10-Minute Delivery Claims

The Union Labour Ministry has asked quick-commerce platforms to stop promoting “10-minute delivery” promises, citing serious safety concerns for gig workers. The government clarified that it is not banning fast deliveries but opposing rigid timelines that push delivery partners to take risks on the road.

The decision follows accidents involving delivery riders and mounting pressure from worker unions, including protests by employees of major platforms. Officials said ultra-fast guarantees create unsafe working conditions and unrealistic productivity expectations.

In response, companies such as Blinkit, Zepto and others have begun removing 10-minute delivery claims from their apps and advertisements. Labour groups welcomed the move, calling it a step towards safer and more responsible gig work.
