Sasikala Floats New Party Ahead of Tamil Nadu Polls, Signals Political Comeback

V. K. Sasikala has formally announced the launch of a new political party ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, triggering fresh political activity in the state’s dynamic electoral landscape.

Sasikala, a close aide of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and a one-time leader within the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), indicated that her new outfit would carry forward the ideological legacy of her late mentor. Her announcement has sparked speculation over possible realignments in Tamil Nadu politics, particularly within the AIADMK’s support base.

At a public rally commemorating Jayalalithaa’s birth anniversary, Sasikala unveiled the party’s flag and sharpened her criticism of the current AIADMK leadership. She asserted that her new political platform aims to restore what she described as the “true vision” of Jayalalithaa’s governance.

Political observers believe the move could influence the electoral arithmetic in the state, especially if Sasikala succeeds in consolidating loyalists and disenchanted cadres. With Assembly elections drawing closer, her entry is expected to intensify campaign strategies and reshape alliances in Tamil Nadu’s evolving political arena.
