Paper Ballots to Be Used in Greater Bengaluru Authority Elections

The Karnataka State Election Commission has announced that the forthcoming elections to the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will be conducted using traditional paper ballots instead of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). The decision, officials said, is aimed at enhancing transparency in the electoral process and reinforcing public trust in urban civic polls.

According to the Commission, the move follows deliberations on voter confidence and administrative preparedness for the high-stakes civic elections in the state capital. Election authorities believe that the use of paper ballots will ensure greater clarity in vote casting and counting, while also addressing concerns raised by various stakeholders.

Preparations are currently underway to ensure smooth conduct of the polls, including training of election staff and arrangements for secure ballot handling and counting. The Commission reiterated its commitment to free, fair, and transparent elections, stating that all necessary measures would be taken to uphold the integrity of the democratic process.

The Greater Bengaluru Authority elections are considered crucial, as they will shape the governance framework of the city and influence the delivery of civic services to its growing population.
