The political landscape in Karnataka is set for a significant test with the announcement of twin by-elections. The Karnataka by-polls Bagalkote Davangere have been necessitated following the deaths of two veteran sitting Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), creating vacancies in these crucial constituencies.
The Bagalkote seat fell vacant after the passing of senior Congress leader and five-time MLA Hullappa Yamanappa Meti. Similarly, the Davangere constituency requires a Karnataka by-polls Bagalkote Davangere election after the death of one of the state’s most senior political figures, veteran legislator Shamanuru Shivashankarappa.
The Election Commission is expected to announce the official schedule for the Karnataka by-polls Bagalkote Davangere soon, with voting mandated to be held within six months. These elections are viewed as an early indicator of public sentiment ahead of larger state-level contests. Major political parties have begun internal deliberations on candidate selection and campaign strategies, where sympathy votes, political legacy, and local equations are expected to be decisive factors.
