A Bengaluru Magistrate Court has issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Sandalwood actor-producer Kaddipudi Chandru in a cheating and criminal intimidation case filed by filmmaker P. Chandrashekar (P.C. Shekar), director of the Kannada film Love Birds.
According to the complaint, Chandru allegedly failed to pay the director the agreed remuneration despite repeated assurances. When Chandrashekar demanded his dues, Chandru reportedly issued threats. After multiple court summons were ignored, the court finally issued an NBW.
Case Background
P.C. Shekar, a known name in Sandalwood, directed Love Birds under Chandru’s production banner. He claims he was cheated out of his rightful payment, forcing him to approach the court.
Settlement attempts failed, and Chandru continued to skip hearings despite being served with multiple notices.
Court Action
With Chandru repeatedly failing to appear, the court issued a non-bailable warrant, authorizing police to arrest and produce him before the bench.
The next hearing is set for December 12, 2025. It remains unclear whether Chandru will appear voluntarily or be taken into custody.
Industry Impact
The NBW has triggered discussions in the Kannada film industry about financial disputes between producers and directors.
If enforced, the warrant may significantly impact Chandru’s upcoming film projects and public engagements.
