Prominent Kannada filmmaker Indrajith Lankesh is set to make a significant cross-industry leap with his Bollywood directorial debut, titled Lovemiles. This ambitious road-trip drama marks Lankesh’s first foray into Hindi cinema, featuring an ensemble cast of established actors and introducing fresh faces to the national audience.

The film for Indrajith Lankesh’s Bollywood directorial debut boasts a notable cast including veterans Mahesh Manjrekar, Jayaprada, Zarina Wahab, and Rahul Dev, alongside newcomers Gaurav Dingra and Pooja Katyal, continuing Lankesh’s penchant for launching new talent. The production has been a sprawling endeavor, with shoots spanning diverse locations across India from Bengaluru and Chikkamagaluru in the south to Rajasthan, Delhi, and Agra in the north embodying the film’s expansive, pan-Indian narrative.

Explaining his move, Lankesh stated that while Southern stories remain his forte, Lovemiles was a story that “demanded Hindi.” This Indrajith Lankesh Bollywood directorial debut follows his recent Sandalwood film Gowri and showcases his technical prowess on a larger, nationwide canvas. The project represents not just a personal milestone for the director but also a growing trend of South Indian filmmakers seamlessly transitioning to tell stories for a broader Hindi-speaking audience, further blurring the lines within Indian cinema.
