The Ilaiyaraaja Mythri Movie Makers settlement has formally concluded the months-long legal dispute between the legendary composer and the production house behind films Good Bad Ugly (GBU) and Dude. Both parties informed the Madras High Court that negotiations resulted in a ₹50 lakh payment to Ilaiyaraaja, after TDS deduction, along with a joint compromise memo.
As part of the Ilaiyaraaja Mythri Movie Makers settlement, the production company retains the right to use the composer’s songs Nooru Varusham and Karutha Machan in the film Dude. However, the Ilaiyaraaja Mythri Movie Makers settlement stipulates that Mythri Movie Makers will not use the tracks Otha Ruba Tharen, Ilamai Idho Idho, and En Jodi Manja Kuruvi in their other project, the Ajith-starrer Good Bad Ugly.
This Ilaiyaraaja Mythri Movie Makers settlement brings a close to a contentious chapter, allowing both the musical icon and the production firm to move forward while clarifying song usage rights for their respective films.
