Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 Set Sealed by Pollution Board; Shooting Halted Abruptly

Bengaluru, October 8, 2025: In a dramatic turn of events, the much-talked-about 12th season of Bigg Boss Kannada has come to an unexpected standstill after the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) sealed the show’s set over alleged environmental and land-use violations.

While an official statement from Colors Kannada is yet to be released, sources confirmed that contestants were evacuated and shifted to a nearby resort shortly after officials initiated the enforcement action.

⚠️ Why the Set Was Sealed

According to KSPCB officials, the studio premises were found to be operating without the mandatory environmental clearances required under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act.

The inspection reportedly revealed that the sewage treatment plant (STP) on-site was non-functional, resulting in the discharge of untreated wastewater into the surrounding area.

Despite multiple prior notices for non-compliance, the production team allegedly failed to address the violations, prompting the Pollution Control Board to seal the facility. The local electricity board was also directed to disconnect the power supply as part of the enforcement action.

🎬 Current Status

Sources close to the production confirm that the team is preparing a legal challenge to resume the shoot, while Colors Kannada has temporarily switched to pre-recorded episodes to keep the show running.

Talks are reportedly underway between the channel and KSPCB officials to reach an amicable solution and restore permissions for the continuation of filming.

💸 Business Impact

The sudden halt is expected to have a significant financial impact on the production. Industry sources reveal that Colors Kannada had rented the studio for 150 days, of which nearly 100 days of filming were completed.

With an estimated total studio rent of ₹6 crore, translating to ₹4 lakh per day, the disruption could result in substantial losses if the issue isn’t resolved swiftly.

Beyond financial implications, the channel and production house may face operational challenges and contractual liabilities tied to schedule delays.

📰 Government Grants Temporary Relief

In a late-night development, the District Commissioner has reportedly granted a 10-day temporary relief, allowing the Bigg Boss Kannada team to resume shooting under conditional approval.

However, this decision has sparked public debate — if the authorities could later permit resumption, many are questioning why such an abrupt and dramatic closure was required in the first place.

This remains a developing story. Further updates from Colors Kannada, KSPCB, and the production house are expected in the coming days.
