In a significant step toward strengthening digital law enforcement, the Karnataka government has transitioned to AI-led cybercrime prevention strategies, deploying specialized cyber commandos to monitor and track 869 identified mule accounts linked to fraudulent activities.
Officials said the initiative marks a major shift from conventional cyber policing to a technology-driven approach that leverages artificial intelligence and data analytics. The newly trained cyber commandos will focus on identifying suspicious financial transactions, tracking digital footprints, and preventing online fraud in real time.
Mule accounts — often used by cybercriminals to siphon off illegally obtained money — have emerged as a growing concern amid the rise in digital transactions. Authorities believe that integrating AI tools will enhance the speed and accuracy of investigations, enabling quicker detection and freezing of fraudulent accounts.
Senior police officials stated that the move will significantly bolster Karnataka’s cyber surveillance and enforcement capabilities, while also serving as a deterrent to organized cybercrime networks operating across state and national borders.
The state government reiterated its commitment to building a robust digital security ecosystem, assuring citizens that proactive measures are being implemented to safeguard online financial transactions and strengthen public trust in digital platforms.
