Fog Disrupts Flight Operations at Bengaluru Airport

Bengaluru, January 12:
Dense morning fog disrupted flight operations at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) over January 11 and 12, leading to delays in arrivals and departures and causing inconvenience to passengers. Low visibility conditions during the early hours slowed runway movements, affecting flight schedules across domestic and international sectors.

Airport authorities said the fog reduced visibility levels significantly, forcing air traffic control to regulate take-offs and landings to ensure safety. Several flights were delayed, while some experienced rescheduling during peak morning hours.

Officials at KIA stated that ground and air traffic management teams worked closely with airlines to manage congestion and minimise disruption. As visibility gradually improved later in the morning, normal operations were restored.

Passengers were advised to check flight status with airlines before travelling and to arrive early at the airport during winter mornings, as foggy conditions are common during this season. The airport administration reiterated that safety remains the top priority during adverse weather conditions.
