The new Foxconn manufacturing unit in Bengaluru is generating a significant wave of Foxconn Bengaluru iPhone jobs, marking a major boost for local employment and India’s electronics manufacturing ambitions. The Foxconn Bengaluru iPhone jobs initiative has already created approximately 30,000 positions, with projections to reach 50,000 in its first phase, and notably, nearly 80% of this workforce comprises women.
Karnataka’s Commerce and Industry Minister, M.B. Patil, highlighted the facility as a cornerstone of the state’s industrial growth, powered by a Foxconn investment exceeding $2 billion. At full capacity, the plant is expected to produce up to 20 million iPhones annually, forming a critical pillar of Apple’s expanded ‘Make in India’ strategy under the national Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.
The project’s scale and rapid hiring have drawn acclaim from across the political spectrum, with Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi citing it as a benchmark for large-scale manufacturing growth. This development not only strengthens Karnataka’s position as an electronics hub but also underscores a transformative shift towards inclusive industrial employment in the region.
