The historic AR Rahman acting debut Moon Walk is set to be a landmark moment in Indian cinema, as the Oscar-winning composer steps in front of the camera for the Tamil musical comedy. The AR Rahman acting debut Moon Walk will see the 58-year-old maestro portraying an “angry young film director,” a role that channels the passion and intensity of his own legendary career behind the scenes.

Directed by debutant Manoj Nirmala Sreedharan, the film marks a nostalgic full-circle reunion with legendary dancer-actor Prabhudeva. The duo last collaborated 27 years ago on the 1998 blockbuster Kadhalan.

Adding to the excitement, Rahman will compose and sing all five original tracks for the film. The ensemble cast includes comedy stars Yogi Babu and Aju Varghese, promising broad appeal across multiple South Indian markets.

Produced on a modest budget that prioritizes story and music, Moon Walk wrapped shooting in Chennai and Ooty. It is slated for a grand theatrical release in Summer 2026, with promotions kicking off with a star-studded audio launch in Chennai on January 4, 2026.
