Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge has firmly addressed the swirling political speculation in Karnataka, clarifying the stance of the Congress high command Karnataka leadership. He stated that the party’s central leadership does not unnecessarily intervene in state-level leadership matters, decisively putting to rest rumours of an imminent change in the Chief Minister’s office.

“The Congress high command Karnataka leadership believes in the democratic processes of the party,” Kharge told reporters. “Decisions on leadership are taken by party legislators and the state leadership.” He dismissed media reports about a potential leadership change as baseless and urged that internal party matters not be turned into a public debate, highlighting the party’s tradition of collective consultation.

When questioned about the perceived differences between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Kharge, reiterating the Congress high command Karnataka leadership perspective, asserted that all leaders are united and committed to party discipline. “The government is stable and will complete its full term,” he affirmed, aiming to project a image of solidarity.

Kharge also tackled the broader narrative of central interference, often labeled as the ‘high command culture.’ He termed such allegations political propaganda, emphasizing, “In the Congress, the views of the state unit are always respected.” His remarks are widely seen as a strategic move by the Congress high command Karnataka leadership to quell internal discord, provide public clarity, and reinforce the authority of the state unit ahead of crucial electoral challenges.
