Fight for CM’s Chair, Farmers Forgotten: R. Ashoka

Opposition Leader R. Ashoka criticised the Congress government, alleging that farmers have been sidelined while Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar remain engaged in a political power struggle. He said the government has shown “no humanity” in responding to farmers’ distress, referring to the recent suicide attempt by a protesting farmer in Gurlapur.

Allegations of Neglect

Ashoka said ministers failed to visit the affected farmer and accused the government of ignoring urgent needs such as drought relief and timely opening of maize procurement centres. He questioned whether the Chief Minister was awaiting approval from the Delhi High Command even to initiate procurement measures.

“Anti-Farmer and Insensitive”

Calling the administration “anti-farmer and insensitive,” Ashoka said the opposition would continue its fight until the Congress government is removed.
