The H.D. Deve Gowda re-elected JD(S) National President announcement has reaffirmed the party’s leadership structure, as former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda was unanimously chosen to continue as National President. Likewise, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has been re-elected unopposed as the State President of the Janata Dal (Secular).
The unanimous decisions were finalised at the JD(S) National Council meeting held at JP Bhavan in Bengaluru, where national representatives expressed confidence that the Gowda–Kumaraswamy leadership duo remains essential for the party’s growth and organisational stability.
Unanimous Endorsement at Party Headquarters
JD(S) Legislature Party Leader C.B. Suresh Babu announced the resolutions after the meeting, emphasising the significance of continuity in leadership as the party marks its 25th anniversary.
He stated:
“Deve Gowda has selflessly devoted his entire life to building JD(S). As we observe the party’s silver jubilee, the council unanimously felt that these two experienced leaders must continue to guide us.”
Babu further highlighted that JD(S) remains Karnataka’s only regional party with 25 years of sustained presence, crediting the perseverance of Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy.
Nikhil Kumaraswamy’s State Tour Gains Praise
The council also appreciated Nikhil Kumaraswamy’s statewide organisational tour and membership drive, noting its success among young voters and grassroots workers.
Two Major Resolutions Passed
The JD(S) National Council adopted two key resolutions:
- Farmers’ Welfare Resolution — addressing irrigation support, loan restructuring, and rural distress.
- Organisational Strengthening Resolution — focusing on cadre expansion and digital infrastructure.
These will be placed before the National Executive Committee for final approval on Saturday.
