Dayal Padmanabhan second Tamil film has officially been announced, with the Kannada filmmaker revealing that his next project in Tamil cinema will be titled Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku. This marks his return to the Tamil industry nearly three years after his 2022 debut Kondraal Paavam, a dark and suspenseful drama starring Santhosh Prathap and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar.
Sharing the news through his social media handle, Dayal wrote:
“Delighted to begin my next Tamil feature film Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku. Produced by K.V. Sabareesh under 2M Cinemas, this film is written and directed by me. I am also co-producing the project under my home banner, D Pictures. As always, your love, support, and encouragement mean the world to me.”
The upcoming film will be Dayal’s second venture in Tamil cinema, signalling his growing presence beyond Kannada films. Known for character-driven narratives and layered storytelling, Dayal has consistently expressed his commitment to “content-driven cinema,” a hallmark evident across his works.
In Kannada, his most recent directorial was Ombatthane Dikku (2022), a film noted for its engaging screenplay and ensemble cast. Dayal was also recently honoured with his second Karnataka State Film Award, recognised for Best Director and Best Film (2018).
Since his entry into the industry, Dayal Padmanabhan has worked across varied genres from intense thrillers to emotional dramas reflecting a career built on experimentation and strong narrative craft. His move into Tamil cinema underscores the increasing creative collaboration across South Indian film industries.
