Acclaimed actress Priyanka Upendra is set to return to the big screen with “September 21”, a bilingual feature that promises to be both moving and thought-provoking. The film, directed by 21-year-old debutant Karen Krishti Suvarna, delves into the emotional realities of Alzheimer’s disease, offering a story that blends sensitivity with cinematic depth.
The film’s post-production is now complete, and it is slated for a 2026 theatrical release. Before that, September 21 will make its world premiere at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, scheduled from November 20 to 24, 2025 — a significant recognition for the young filmmaker and her team.

Priyanka Upendra, known for her versatility and strong screen presence, plays the role of a middle-class woman confronting life’s emotional challenges while caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s.

To mark the actress’s birthday, the film team plans to unveil the first look poster, offering audiences a glimpse of her emotionally layered performance.

September 21 is written by Rajshekhar, with music by Vinay Chandra and cinematography by Anil Kumar, capturing the visual and emotional textures of everyday life.
The film is jointly produced by FMD Visic Films and Film Max Productions, in association with Hamara Movie, co-owned by Preeti Ali (filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s wife).
